Sometimes called globe amaranth, Gomphrena produces distinctive globe-shaped blooms in vibrant shades of pink, purple, red, and white. Unlike delicate, flat edible flowers, Gomphrena has a sculptural, three-dimensional shape that makes it especially beautiful for adding height, texture, and pops of color to your designs.
Grown and hand-harvested on our USDA Certified Organic farm in Pennsylvania, our Gomphrena is grown specifically for culinary use.
How to Use Fresh Gomphrena
Gomphrena is edible, but the flower heads have a naturally firm, fibrous texture. For that reason, we recommend using the blooms primarily as an edible decorative garnish rather than eating the entire flower whole.
Use whole flower heads to decorate cakes and desserts, float them in cocktails or mocktails, or scatter them across grazing and charcuterie boards. For a softer touch, pull the tiny individual florets from the flower head and sprinkle them over desserts, drinks, salads, or other dishes.
The sturdy blooms are also wonderful for creating floral clusters on cakes. Pair them with smaller flowers, herbs, or greenery to create everything from simple botanical accents to abundant wildflower-inspired designs.

Flavor & Texture: Gomphrena has a very mild flavor and a firm, somewhat fibrous texture. We recommend enjoying it primarily as a beautiful edible garnish or using the individual florets rather than eating the whole flower head.

- Our Fresh Edible Flowers are shipped from our Pennsylvania farm on Wednesdays and Thursdays only. During checkout, you will be prompted to select your Ship Date. Your flowers will arrive one day after the Ship Date you select.
- The Order Deadline for each week is Monday at 5 pm eastern time for Wednesday and Thursday shipment the same calendar week.
- Overnight/Next Day Shipping is required because fresh edible flowers are perishable products. UPS Next Day, Next Day Saver, or Next Day Early will be the only shipping options available during checkout.

Our fresh edible flowers are shipped in an insulated bag with an ice pack to keep them cool and fresh. Upon arrival, unpack the box immediately and store flowers in the refrigerator until use. Flowers do not require washing before eating. Clamshells are packed 5-10% over the advertised count in case a few are a little worn out by the shipping process.
We recommend that you ship to arrive one to two days before your event. We have clients who are able to keep our flowers looking great up to 5 days after arrival, but we recommend using the flowers as soon as possible for the best appearance and freshness.

How long do the flowers last?

What do the edible flowers taste like?
Most edible flower petals are flavorless. The one exception is marigolds, which taste like marigolds smell. For the mildest flavor, take care to separate brown and green flower parts as these will be more bitter.
What's your return policy?
Because edible flowers are a perishable food product, they are not returnable. Replacements can be sent for qualifying items damaged in shipment or for fulfillment errors if we are contacted within 12 hours of delivery. Please refer to our Returns Policy for more information.
